Greetings from North Central’s King’s Court Singers!
Following tradition, the King’s Court Singers learn and present various genres of music each year, including Madrigal music, Concert Choir pieces, and Show Choir numbers. The choir’s most well-known performances are the annual Fisher’s Renaissance Faire at Conner Prairie in autumn, the Madrigal Dinners in winter, and the Side-by-Side Show each spring. At the Fisher’s Renaissance Faire, the King’s Court Singers perform madrigal compositions in an outdoor venue while wearing period dress. Madrigal Dinners also hark back to an earlier time, circa 1500, as the choir performs music and skits written during or in the style of the Renaissance. These dinners occur at Pilgrim Lutheran Presbyterian Church, where the choir sings and acts for sold-out audiences every year. In the Side-by-Side Concert, middle school and elementary school students perform alongside the King’s Court Singers. In addition, the choir presents itself at the MIC Choral Festival, Ball State Music Festival, the North Central Holiday Show, and Pacers games and other athletic events. Selected members attend the Butler Jazz Festival, All-State Choir, and Indiana Music Educators Conference Events. King’s Court competes in ISSMA Solo and Ensemble; ISSMA Organizational State Qualification Competition, where the ensemble has received gold ratings and high marks; and Music in the Parks, where they were awarded first place in the Madrigal Division as well as other honors.
